Coronavirus Information Update

You may have seen recently that the Welsh Government announced a relaxation in the restrictions in respect to Community Centres and as a result we have had a great deal if interest regarding the proposed opening date for Caerwent Village Hall

We thought it would be useful for us to give you an update on the current position regarding Caerwent Village Hall.

The hall is still currently closed to all bookings, and there was some confusion over the activities that would be allowed to recommence following this announcement.

We have sought clarity on the matter and the response we have received indicates that currently only essential voluntary and community service will be allowed to recommence.

These services are as follows

• To help the Local Authority offer childcare and summer playschemes

• To provide essential voluntary services

• To provide urgent public services, such as food banks, or other support for the homeless or vulnerable persons, blood donation sessions or support in an emergency. These services can only be provided if requested by the Local Authority or Welsh Ministers.

We are currently busy preparing the hall to be COVID secure in respect of the guidance. This should mean that when we are given the go ahead to reopen for other activities we will be prepared.

We are aware that current legislation prevents mass gatherings of any groups outside of their extended households unless for exceptional circumstances in indoor situations and it is likely that this requirement would have to be reviewed before any normal hire activities could recommence..

We will be keeping a close eye on the up and coming announcements by the Welsh Government and will update you accordingly as we have anything to report. Unfortunately we are not able at this stage to put any timescale on the possible reopening.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to welcoming you back to Caerwent Village Hall at some time soon.

Welcome to Caerwent Playing Fields Association Website

Welcome to the new look website of the Caerwent Playing Fields Association Ltd.

The Playing Fields committee is made up of local volunteers who manage and maintain the Village Hall and adjacent playing field.

Events are organised throughout the year from car boot sales, to theatrical performances and the annual village show.

Money made from these events go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the hall and to provide equipment for community use.

The hall can be hired for private and public functions and details of costs are available on this site.

We will be using the website to publicise our events and to keep the local community up to date with news and activities ongoing locally.

We are a small group and rely on the goodwill of our members, and we are always looking for new members to join us with fresh ideas and suggestions.

Can you spare us some of your time to bring entertainment, culture and fun to the residents of Caerwent.
